Author Peter “Otto” Abeles will be speaking to the high school students at Merrol Hyde Magnet School at 128 Township Drive in Hendersonville on April 4th. He will be discussing the Holocaust and his escape from the Nazi nightmare and interacting with the students. Mr. Abeles, along with local author Tom Hicks, chronicled his experiences growing up in Vienna and later as a refugee to the United States where he became a successful businessman and pioneer in the recycling industry before his career as an author, lecturer and producer of a stage production and movie script. He will donate signed copies of his books and play to the school library.
Mr. Abeles divides his time between homes in Bethesda, Maryland and Naples, Florida along with book signings and speaking engagements around the country. In December, he was in Nashville to play himself in a one act stage production called “The Seed Remains”, written by Tom Hicks and co-starring local actors Rodney Pickel and Laurie Canaan.
Tom Hicks, a local resident of Hendersonville, is proud to host a free informal “meet and greet” at The Smoky Cigar, 112 Saundersville Rd in Hendersonville on the afternoon of the 4th between 4 and 6 p.m. to have an opportunity to get a signed book and chat with an incredible and inspirational man.
