Brains and Membranes

Squishy stuff’s self contained

A gushing runny nose

Spongy brain matter in my head

Produces verse and prose

Saliva dampens dry chapped lips

Sweat humidifies bends and cracks

This porous shoreline we call our skin

Safeguards us from germ attacks

Some like it hot, I like it wet

Water’s fine with me

I carry an ocean around inside

I am a briny sea
